{"id":13958,"date":"2019-10-08T12:32:50","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T12:32:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=13958"},"modified":"2019-10-08T12:32:52","modified_gmt":"2019-10-08T12:32:52","slug":"daher-congratulates-tbm-owners-and-pilots-association-on-successful-2019-convention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/colorado\/daher-congratulates-tbm-owners-and-pilots-association-on-successful-2019-convention\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Daher Congratulates TBM Owners and Pilots Association on Successful 2019 Convention"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The TBM Owners and Pilots Association\u2019s (TBMOPA) 2019\nconvention brought together TBM owners and their Daher-built very fast\nturboprop aircraft from around the world, underscoring this annual gathering\u2019s\nimportance as one of the largest such meetings for a turbine aircraft type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Denver-Convention-line-upedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13960\" width=\"311\" height=\"173\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Denver-Convention-line-upedit.jpg 700w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Denver-Convention-line-upedit-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Converging at the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in\nDenver, Colorado were 102 aircraft representing all TBM versions produced by\nDaher to date: the TBM 700, TBM 850 and TBM&nbsp;&nbsp;\n900 series. In total, 345 participants \u2013 including 135 owners, of which\n51 were first timers \u2013 attended the convention, held September 25-29 at the\nDenver Marriott Tech Center.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TBMOPA\u2019s members attended three days of dynamic academic and\nlearning sessions customized for TBM owners and operators. The primary focus\nwas on airmanship and safety, with the performance of safe landings as topic of\na special session moderated by Rapha\u00c3\u00abl Maitre, the Daher Airplane Business\nUnit\u2019s Vice President of Customer Support and involving Igor Lucas of Simcom\nand Dierk Reuter, a TBM 930 owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the convention\u2019s topics were the development and use\nof Daher\u2019s Me &amp; My TBM application; the service advantages provided by the\nTBM Care organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe 2019 TBMOPA convention was the opportunity to unveil\nour development plans to a selected audience, including how the Quest Aircraft\nCompany\u2019s acquisition will generate benefits for the TBM flying community,\u201d\ncommented Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of the Daher Airplane Business\nUnit. \u201cIn Denver, we were able to meet many new members of the TBM family who\nrepresent different backgrounds and profiles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"232\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Denver-Conventionedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13961\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Denver-Conventionedit.jpg 600w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Denver-Conventionedit-300x116.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chabbert also confirmed Daher\u2019s ongoing support for the\nTBMOPA\u2019s activities, with this member organization acknowledged as the aviation\nindustry\u2019s closest working relationship between an aircraft manufacturer and an\nassociation of owners\/pilots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the 2019 TBMOPA convention, presentations were\nmade by Daher as the aircraft manufacturer, along with such TBM system vendors\nas Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada (producer of the TBM\u2019s PT6 turboprop engine) and\nHartzell (the TBM propeller supplier).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the convention\u2019s key speakers were aviation legend\nDick Rutan, who spoke about his around-the-world record breaking flight with\nthe Voyager aircraft; along with Dierk Reuter and Phil Bozek, describing their\nNew York-Paris non-stop trans-Atlantic flight in a TBM 930. Dr. Ian Fries, a\nTBM owner and recognized medical expert, explained the challenges of a pilot\u2019s\nmedical examination. Erik Eliel from Radar Training International provided tips\non the TBM weather radar\u2019s optimal use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TBMOPA convention activities for companions of TBM owners\nand operators included the \u201cpinch hitter\u201d flight training program for\nnon-pilots, a \u201cTBM flying is fun\u201d presentation by Catherine Fish, and a tour of\nvineyards in Denver area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe 2019 TBMOPA convention marked another step in meeting\nour association\u2019s goal of promoting safety and providing opportunities to\nmaximize both the pleasure and utility of the TBM ownership experience,\u201d TBMOPA\nChairman David Scobey explained. \u201cWe very much appreciate Daher\u2019s efforts in supporting\nsafety-based enhancements to existing TBM currently in service, as well as for\ntheir new-production aircraft. This is a sign of the TBM manufacturer\u2019s\nlong-term commitment to its product line.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that TBMOPA members\u2019 attendance at the convention\u2019s\nacademic\/learning sessions qualifies TBM owners for savings on insurance\npremiums, as participating underwriters offer a credit for as much as 10\npercent of the hull premium after a claim-free year. \u201cThese insurance savings,\nplus the added safety awareness and operational knowledge gained from the\ntechnical seminars, are compelling reasons to attend the TBMOPA\u2019s annual\nconventions,\u201d Scobie concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next TBMOPA annual convention will be held September\n8-12, 2020 in Montreal, Canada.
