The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) presented\nits 15th annual Archie League Medal of Safety Awards, the highest honor in the\nair traffic control profession, closing last week\u2019s Communicating For Safety\nconference at Bally\u2019s Las Vegas. NATCA also presented its Region X Commitment\nto Safety Award that recognizes great work from aviation safety professionals\nworking in the many non-air traffic controller bargaining units that NATCA\nrepresents. Named after the first air traffic controller, Archie League, this\naward and the Region X Commitment to Safety Award honors the best in the ATC profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are so proud each year to honor those who saved lives\naboard aircraft needing our members\u2019 assistance,\u201d said NATCA President Paul\nRinaldi. \u201cThis awards program is one of the most important and rewarding things\nwe do.\u201d Rinaldi said the awards were a reminder that their members\u2019 work\nensuring that the National Airspace System is safe and efficient is nothing\nshort of heroic. \u201cEach of our award winners faced a unique situation in which\ntheir ability to think quickly and remain calm under pressure was tested.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
