Mattessich, Esq. as the Program Director for the newly created Smart Airport\nand Aviation Partnership (SAAP) centered in Southern New Jersey. SAAP was\nestablished through a Regional Innovation Strategies Grant from the U.S.\nEconomic Development Administration to the Atlantic County Economic Alliance\n(ACEA).&nbsp; The purpose of the program is to\ntransform Southern New Jersey\u2019s innovation ecosystem by incubating,\naccelerating, and attracting new businesses into a high-tech cluster. The\ncompanies in the cluster will leverage \u201csmart\u201d infrastructure and\nInternet-of-Things technologies for airport and aviation applications in\ncollaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and airports in\nboth Atlantic County and Cape May County.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2012, Ms. Mattessich has served in leadership roles in\nEconomic Development for Cape May County, specializing in aviation businesses.\nAs part of this new initiative, she will have overall responsibility for the\nexecution of SAAP, leading the effort to accelerate businesses, attract new\ncapital and bring new companies to the area. \u201cOn behalf of NIA, I am so pleased\nthat we were able to find someone as highly qualified as Carole to lead this\ninitiative, and we look forward to expanding our research and economic\ndevelopment activities to Southern New Jersey,\u201d said Dr. Doug Stanley,\nPresident and Executive Director of NIA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms. Mattessich holds a law degree from Catholic University\nLaw School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.&nbsp; She was a Law Clerk on the United States\nCourt of Appeals for the Third Circuit and has worked as a journalist in New\nJersey where she received honors for excellence from the New Jersey Press\nAssociation.&nbsp; Previous legal experience\nincludes litigation involving leading-edge internet technology. Ms. Mattessich\nbrings to the task an intimate knowledge of the Southern New Jersey business\ncommunity where she has worked to create a business incubator at the Cape May\nCounty Airport and serves on a Working Group to identify resources and\ninfrastructure that will benefit the local business environment. \u201cAtlantic and\nCape May Counties are poised to provide a unique and unified aviation district\nutilizing government, industry and university capabilities and assets,\u201d she\nsaid. \u201cWe have long considered the FAA William J.
