The Southern San Fernando Valley Airplane Noise Task Force\n(Task Force) held its second meeting at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank\nAirport Hotel Convention Center. This Task force is a group formed to collaboratively\naddress community concerns regarding aircraft noise resulting from planes\ndeparting from Van Nuys Airport (VNY) and Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR). The\nTask Force\u2019s objective is to provide the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)\nwith recommendations on aircraft operations based off the community and\nindustry experts\u2019 proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meeting Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n UproarLA, a Los Angeles community group, presented their\nrecommendations to establish immediate changes to flight departure operations.\nLos Angeles City Councilmember Paul Koretz (CD5) asked to move a presentation\nby the Encino Neighborhood Council to the next meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Task Force members asked the FAA clarifying questions. The\nFAA will give a presentation on airspace in the Los Angeles region at a future\nmeeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Task Force forum allows us to work together in a\ntransparent, respectful and collaborative way,\u201d said Task Force Chair, Burbank\nMayor Emily Gabel-Luddy. \u201cWe are committed to continuing to hold these Task\nForce meetings and working together with community members, industry experts\nand other entities to ensure we collectively come to a reasonable solution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis Task Force will work hard to propose feasible\ncommunity-based solutions that disperse the noise generated from the airports,\u201d\nsaid Task Force Vice Chair, Councilmember Paul Krekorian (CD2). \u201cMy top\npriority is to ensure community members are being heard by the FAA, that\nthey\u2019re getting answers to their questions about the changes to the flight path\nand that we begin implementing changes to mitigate the impacts that are so\nadversely affecting the East San Fernando Valley.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The official bylaws document and agenda items from this meeting can be found on the BUR website<\/a> or on VNY website<\/a>.
