Wilson with Doswell Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) has announced\nthat Wilson Air Center founder and longtime business aviation advocate Robert\nA. Wilson will receive the 2019 John P. \u201cJack\u201d Doswell Award during NBAA\u2019s 2019\nBusiness Aviation Convention &amp; Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), set for Oct. 22-24\nin Las Vegas, NV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilson is a member of the NBAA Security Council and\npresident of Wilson Air Center, LLC. Founded in 1996, the company has grown\nfrom a single location in Memphis, TN, to additional FBOs in Charlotte, NC;\nChattanooga, TN; and Houston, TX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A retired lieutenant colonel with the Tennessee Air National\nGuard, Wilson frequently donates his time and aircraft for flights with\nMake-A-Wish Mid-South Foundation and the Veterans Airlift Command (VAC), an\nall-volunteer organization offering free air transportation to post-9\/11 combat\nwounded and their families for medical travel and other related purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also has served on boards of directors for the Holiday\nInn Club Vacations, Inc., as well as the Pilatus Owners and Pilots Association,\nand is an active member of the Citation Jet Pilots Association. In 2006, Wilson\nwas enshrined in the Tennessee Aviation Hall of Fame, and in 2012 inducted into\nthe San Diego Air and Space Museum in recognition of his numerous\naccomplishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the Robert A. and Susan C. Wilson Foundation, he\nfunded the original and renovation of the Wilson Timeless Voices of Aviation\nTheater, which curates and preserves firsthand accounts of aviation history and\nmakes them available as an educational resource. The theater is located in\nOshkosh, WI, at the Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) Education Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Wilson serves as the executive vice president\nof Kemmons Wilson, Inc. and on the executive board of the Edwin L. Cox School\nof Business at Southern Methodist University (SMU). He is a graduate of SMU, as\nwell as the Harvard Business School\u2019s Small Company Management Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNBAA is proud to recognize Bob Wilson, whose outstanding\ncontributions to the business aviation community reflect Jack Doswell\u2019s legacy\nof lifelong commitment to the industry,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.\n\u201cHe has also demonstrated a tireless commitment to promoting safety and\nsecurity throughout our industry, as well as devotion to giving back, through\nhis involvement in a number of philanthropic initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1987, the Doswell Award is granted for\nlifelong individual achievement on behalf of and in support of the aims, goals\nand objectives of business aviation.
