{"id":13708,"date":"2019-09-09T22:38:35","date_gmt":"2019-09-09T22:38:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=13708"},"modified":"2019-09-09T22:38:37","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T22:38:37","slug":"colorado-aviation-business-association-announces-pathways-to-a-career-in-aviation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/colorado\/colorado-aviation-business-association-announces-pathways-to-a-career-in-aviation\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Colorado Aviation Business Association Announces Pathways to a Career in Aviation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Colorado Aviation Business Association Foundation (CABA\nFoundation), representing over 400 corporate and individual members within the\nbusiness and general aviation industries throughout Colorado, has announced an\nupcoming event created for high school students who are interested or\nconsidering a career in aviation.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This free event, scheduled for September 28<sup>th<\/sup>, is\nco-sponsored by Wings Over the Rockies and hosted at their Boeing Blue Sky\nAviation Gallery at Centennial Airport. The Pathways event is open to students\nand their parents\/guardians, and provides them with an opportunity to hear from\nprofessionals who work in eight different aviation-related careers, including:\npilots, maintenance technicians, flight attendants, fixed-based operations\n(FBO), scheduler\/dispatcher, aviation sales, FAA\/ATC-tower operations and\nairport operations.&nbsp; During each \u201cCareer\nCorner\u201d presentation, students and parents can expect to hear what it takes to\nachieve a job in that particular profession (training and experience), learn\nwhat average salaries and wages are like and what quality of life can be\nexpected.&nbsp; After each short, 15-minute\npresentation, students and parents will then have an opportunity to speak\none-on-one with Career Advocates, who can answer specific questions on that\ncareer choice and talk more about their role in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the 2019 Boeing Pilot &amp; Technician Outlook,\nforecasters predict that 804,000 new civil aviation pilots, 769,000 new\nmaintenance technicians and 914,000 new cabin crew will be needed to fly and\nmaintain the world fleet over the next 20 years, including commercial and\nbusiness aviation, and the civil helicopter industries, many of which will be\navailable here in Colorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the Career Corners, there will be three (3)\nparent-focused sessions as well, providing parents and guardians with valuable\ninformation and resources on the costs of education, how and where to get\nschooling (local and beyond), where to find financing and scholarships and\nother training resources.&nbsp; There will\nalso be a session discussing ways students can get started now, while in high\nschool, working towards a career in aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kids and parents will be able to talk directly with\nrepresentatives from many of the local schools and training organizations who\nwill have booths onsite.&nbsp; Attendees will\nalso have access to training aircraft, business jets, helicopters and\nmore.&nbsp; Food trucks will be available on\nsite and attendees will also have full access to all of the many interactive\nexhibitsat the Boeing Blue Sky Aviation Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cColorado has a surprisingly robust number of opportunities\nfor young people exploring a career in aviation and aerospace,\u201d says, Kandi\nSpangler, President of the CABA Foundation.&nbsp;\n\u201cWe are so fortunate to have access to not only some of the best schools\nand training outfits right here in our back yard, but to some of the best aviation\njobs in the nation as well,\u201d she continued.&nbsp;\n\u201cWhether you\u2019re seeking a job as a pilot, mechanic, flight attendant,\noperations, sales or with the FAA, we\u2019ve got it all here in Colorado\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will begin at 9:00 AM with an opening general session, including an address by David Ulane, Aeronautics Director for the Colorado Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics. The morning session will be repeated in the afternoon so participants have flexibility to attend all or just part of the day based on their schedule.
