Chao<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe committee\u2019s input will help the Department ensure that\nthe FAA remains the world\u2019s leader in aviation safety,\u201d said Secretary Elaine\nL. Chao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SOCAC was created by the FAA (Federal Aviation\nAdministration) Reauthorization Act of 2018. The committee will provide advice\nto the Secretary of Transportation regarding issues facing the aviation\ncommunity related to FAA safety oversight and certification programs. These\ninclude aircraft and flight standards certification processes, oversight of\nsafety management systems, risk-based oversight efforts, and utilization of\ndelegation and designation authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SOCAC consists of twenty voting members representing\nstakeholders across the aviation field and two non-voting FAA members. Members\nare appointed to 2-year terms.
