Dickson Sworn in as FAA Administrator"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Stephen M. Dickson was sworn in on Monday by U.S.\nTransportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao as the 18th Administrator of the\nFederal Aviation Administration (FAA). An aviation industry professional with\nnearly 40 years of experience, Dickson is widely respected and assumes the role\nof Administrator of the agency during a critical moment for aviation safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dickson_Steveedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13490\" width=\"184\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dickson_Steveedit.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Dickson_Steveedit-247x300.jpg 247w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 184px) 100vw, 184px\" \/><figcaption><em>Stephen Dickson<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Recognizing Acting Administrator Elwell\u2019s service, Secretary\nChao stated, \u201cI\u2019m grateful for Acting Administrator Dan Elwell\u2019s steady and\nprincipled leadership during an especially challenging time in the FAA\u2019s\nhistory.\u201d As FAA Administrator, Dickson will lead an agency responsible for the\nsafety and efficiency of the largest aerospace system in the world \u2014 a system\nthat operates more than 50,000 flights per day. He will oversee a $16.4\nbillion-dollar budget, more than 47,000 employees, and focus on ensuring the\nagency and its employees are the best prepared and trained professionals to\nmeet the growing demands and requirements of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored to join the outstanding team at the Federal\nAviation Administration and look forward to ensuring our aviation system\nmaintains its proper place, leading the world in both safety and operational\nperformance,\u201d said Captain Dickson. \u201cNowhere else in the world sees the volume,\ncomplexity and pace of innovation that we have in America. Maintaining the\nhighest levels of safety while adapting to technological advancements will be a\nkey part of our success. I am honored to be able to help write the next chapter\nin the history of the FAA.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dickson recently retired from service as the Senior Vice\nPresident-Flight Operations for Delta Air Lines. In this role, he was\nresponsible for the safety and operational performance of Delta\u2019s global flight\noperations, as well as pilot training, crew resources, crew scheduling, and\nregulatory compliance. He also flew in line operations as an A320 captain, and\npreviously flew the B727, B737, B757, and B767 during his career. Dickson is a\nstrong advocate for commercial aviation safety and improvements to our National\nAirspace System, having served as chairman of several industry stakeholder\ngroups and Federal advisory committees. A former United States Air Force\nOfficer and F-15 fighter pilot, Dickson is a Distinguished Graduate of the\nClass of 1979 at the United States Air Force Academy, as well as a graduate of\nthe Georgia State University College of Law, magna cum laude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FAA Acting Administrator Daniel K. Elwell will serve as FAA\nDeputy Administrator upon Administrator Dickson assuming office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stephen M.
