{"id":13462,"date":"2019-08-05T19:24:01","date_gmt":"2019-08-05T19:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=13462"},"modified":"2019-08-05T19:25:35","modified_gmt":"2019-08-05T19:25:35","slug":"jaded-thunder-returns-to-salina-kansas-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/kansas\/jaded-thunder-returns-to-salina-kansas-airport\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Jaded Thunder Returns to Salina, Kansas Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>More than 800 military personnel are set to converge on\nSalina and the surrounding area for the next couple of weeks to participate in\nthe joint-service exercise, Jaded Thunder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"105\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Salina-Jaded-Thunderedit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13463\"\/><figcaption> <em>Military fixed wing aircraft and helicopters will be seen in the skies over Salina during Jaded Thunder. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The exercise will include joint forces integration by\nmembers of Air Force, Marine, Navy and Army units, as well as representatives\nof the U.S. Special Operations Command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Salina Regional Airport&#8217;s close proximity to the Smoky\nHill Weapons Range is key for this type of training.&nbsp; Operating from the Salina Airport, military\nunits get realistic and efficient training.&nbsp;\nThe less time pilots spend in the air getting to the training venue, the\nmore time, and fuel, they can spend over the range training with personnel on\nthe ground.&nbsp; The availability of the\nSmoky Hill Weapons Range, coupled with a supportive community, make the Salina\nAirport a preferred location for military training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Salina residents shouldn&#8217;t worry if they hear any loud noise\ncoming from the weapons range. The military will be using training ordnance\nduring the exercise.
