{"id":13429,"date":"2019-08-02T19:19:59","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T19:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=13429"},"modified":"2019-08-02T19:20:01","modified_gmt":"2019-08-02T19:20:01","slug":"agricultural-aviation-in-new-zealand-celebrates-70th-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/agricultural-aviation-in-new-zealand-celebrates-70th-anniversary\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Agricultural Aviation in New Zealand Celebrates 70th Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u201cIn September 1949, a group of aerial work operators got\ntogether to form the NZ Aerial Work Operators Association \u2018to advance the\ntechniques of aerial work\u2019 in the country,\u201d said the New Zealand Agricultural\nAviation Association (NZAAA) Chairman, Tony Michelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We celebrate the achievements of those early companies\nand pilots at an agricultural aviation show at Ardmore Airport on Sunday 4\nAugust, from 12 midday to 4pm. Many examples of aircraft that have worked in\nagricultural aviation will be on display. It also gives people a chance to\nmingle with many of the older pilots from those early days, as well as those\nsafely flying our skies today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ardmore display will be followed by an Anniversary\nDinner, attended by many of those old pilots. The importance of that 1949\ndecision will be continued in the NZ Agricultural Aviation Conference, being\nrun in conjunction with the Aviation NZ conference, on 5 and 6 August in\nAuckland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The Aerial Agricultural industry takes a great deal of\npride in the professionalism of our operators and pilots, who are extremely\nwell trained\u2019 said Michelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those early operators wanted to improve the safety of\nagricultural aviation; it remains a critically important imperative for the\nNZAAA today. Programmes run to improve safety and the way the industry does\nthings include AIRCARE\u2122 (improves professionalism) and Down to the Wire\n(encourages the removal of rural wire hazards for agricultural aircraft).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annually, the aerial agricultural sector adds an\nestimated $2.0b of benefits to the economy. We are committed to the long term\nsustainability of our industry but it is important that we recognise that\ninitiative, 70 years ago, to put the industry on a safe and strong footing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Today, the NZAAA has 61 members who are responsible for\nthe bulk of agricultural product dispensed in New Zealand\u2019 said Association\nChairman Tony Michelle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cIn September 1949, a group of aerial work operators got together to form the NZ Aerial Work Operators Association \u2018to advance the techniques of aerial work\u2019 in the country,\u201d said the New Zealand Agricultural Aviation Association (NZAAA) Chairman, Tony Michelle.
