McEnany was responsible for the development and maintenance\nof safe, comprehensive, and competitive aviation and transit systems in Iowa.\nHer management in transportation emphasized advocacy, promotion, and partnership\nbuilding, with a focus on economic development and quality of life issues. A\nnote from the Iowa Office of Aviation stated that Michelle brought a fresh\nperspective and contributed to the success of aviation in Iowa and was\neffective in her work with stakeholders at all levels, and in implementing\nreorganizational changes for the Office of Aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2009, having served on the Board of Directors for the\nNational Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) for several years, Ms.\nMcEnany was elected Chair. \u201cHer term as Chair was not without controversy,\u201d\nsaid Kim Stevens, SAJ Publisher and former state aviation official who worked\nwith Michelle. \u201cShe wasn\u2019t shy about bringing her brand of leadership to the\norganization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to joining the Iowa DOT, McEnany was the director of\nstate and local relations for the Greater Des Moines Partnership, where she was\nresponsible for advancing transportation public policy issues that enhanced\nbusiness and economic development opportunities. She is a graduate of Boston\nCollege with degrees in economics and political science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
