Although\nretiring from State service, he plans to continue to work on behalf of general\naviation in Texas.&nbsp; Fulton told the State\nAviation Journal that he will be serving as an unpaid lobbyist in Texas working\nto garner increased funding for the state\u2019s general aviation airports. \u201cThe\nlevel of funding for our airports hasn\u2019t changed in years,\u201d said Fulton, who as\na state employee was restricted on how much influence he could wield.&nbsp; &#8220;As a Texas citizen, I\u2019ll be free to do\nwhat I want.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7401edit2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13193\" width=\"295\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7401edit2.jpg 320w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_7401edit2-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><figcaption><em>Dave Fulton (center), at a NASAO Legislative Conference, with Bill Orellana, former Tennessee Aeronautics Director (left), and Vic Bird, Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission Director.&nbsp;Photo&nbsp;by&nbsp;Kim&nbsp;Stevens.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulton came to TxDOT in June 1992 after serving with the Tennessee Department of Transportation Office of Aeronautics for 16 years, including a decade as director of that state aviation agency. \u201cI have decided that it is time to move on at the end of the month,\u201d said Fulton. His last day will be June 30<sup>th<\/sup>. In a memo, Fulton wrote that working with the great staff of the [Texas] Aviation Division and those in the industry has made his job a fantastic one for a long time. \u201cTogether, we have made the Texas General Aviation Airport System the best in the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fulton was thankful for all the great support everyone\nhas given him and the staff over the past 27 years and encouraged them all to\n\u201cplease continue to work with and support TxDOT\u2019s Aviation Division, keeping\nTexas airports the very best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve known Dave since he became the Texas director in 1992,\u201d\nsaid Kim Stevens, Publisher of the State Aviation Journal. \u201cHe has had a\ntremendous impact on aviation in the states, not only in Tennessee and Texas,\nwhere he served, but on a national level as well, having provided a consistent\nand much needed voice while on the board of directors for the National\nAssociation of State Aviation Officials (NASAO).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0374edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13192\" width=\"222\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0374edit.jpg 400w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0374edit-295x300.jpg 295w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0374edit-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 222px) 100vw, 222px\" \/><figcaption><em>Charlotte and Dave Fulton at a NASAO Conference in Alabama.
