Castagna is the President and CEO\nof Aeroplex\/Aerolease group with locations at both Van Nuys and Long Beach\nAirports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVan Nuys Airport is leading the way on environmental\nsustainability, safety and innovation, and Flora Margheritis has helped make\nthis happen by building strong relationships with our tenants and contractors,\u201d\nsaid Deborah Flint, CEO, LAWA. \u201cOperating a general aviation airport is a team\nsport, and thanks to the partnerships that Flora and Curt have helped foster,\nwe have successfully undertaken a $26 million taxiway improvement project,\ninstalled more solar panels than any general aviation airport in the state and\nensured that the businesses operating at VNY are certified through the L.A.\nGreen Business Program. My congratulations to Flora, Curt and the entire Van\nNuys Airport team for this well-deserved recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Margheritis has served as airport manager at VNY, one of the\nworld\u2019s busiest general aviation airports, since July 2016. Her aviation career\nspans over 34 years, with 28 years at LAWA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored to receive this award on behalf of Los Angeles\nWorld Airports and our Van Nuys Airport team, as it recognizes the work we do\nevery day to balance the needs of our tenants, businesses and local community,\u201d\nsaid VNY Airport Manager, Flora Margheritis. \u201cCreating strong partnerships is\ncritical to any airport operation, especially at one of the busiest general\naviation airports in the world, and I am grateful to National Air\nTransportation Association for their recognition of our efforts.\nCongratulations to Curt Castagna for his selection as NATA Chair, which is\nfurther evidence of VNY&#8217;s national leadership status.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Margheritis earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in\nAviation Administration from California State University, Los Angeles. She is a\ncertified member of the American Association of Airport Executives and an\nactive member of Women in Aviation International.
