The awards honor the companies\u2019 outstanding compliance with\nestablished noise abatement regulations and achieving 99 percent or greater\ncompliance with all voluntary noise abatement programs at VNY during the 2018\ncalendar year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased that our Friendly Flyer program\ncontributes to measurable noise reduction at and around Van Nuys Airport,\u201d said\nAirport Manager Flora Margheritis. \u201cWe congratulate and thank each of our award\nrecipients for their commitment to quiet flying practices, which reduce noise\nand enhance the quality of life in our neighboring communities.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The voluntary Fly Friendly\/Quiet Departure Program for jet\naircraft was first established in 1994 to address the community\u2019s concerns\nregarding jet aircraft noise in neighboring areas.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) created the \u201cFriendly\nFlyer\u201d award in 2012 to acknowledge operators who complied with all noise\nabatement policies and procedures and had the highest level of success in\nadhering to the voluntary No Early Turn and Fly Friendly\/Quiet Departure\nPrograms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award winners were determined using the following\nprogram criteria: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>At least 60 southbound jet departures during CY\n2018 <\/li><li>No violations of the following:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/li><li>Noise Abatement and Curfew Regulation\nprohibiting aircraft generating departure noise level equal to or above 74\ndecibels (per FAA Circular Regulation 36-3) from departing the airport between\n10 p.m. and 7 a.m., and Stage 3 aircraft with departure noise levels equal or\nabove 74 decibels from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Stage 3 aircraft with departure noise\nlevels below 74 and Stage 4 aircraft are not restricted by the curfew.<\/li><li>Non-Additional Rule which prohibits any Stage 2\naircraft with noise levels exceeding 77dBA from being based at VNY. <\/li><li>Noisier Jet Phase Out which prohibits operation\nof aircraft with certified takeoff noise levels of 77 dBA or higher.<\/li><li>99 percent or greater compliance with the No\nEarly Turn and the Quiet Jet Departure Programs. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Legacy honorees are those who have received the Friendly\nFlyer Award every year since the program\u2019s inception. This year, eight\ncompanies received a legacy award. Each Legacy winner received a special\nhand-made model airplane created by artist Michael Challgren. This year\u2019s\nFriendly Flyer legacy winners are: Clay Lacy Aviation; Dreamline Aviation, LLC;\nFlexjet; Flight Options; JetSuite; NetJets; Tutor-Saliba Corporation; and XOJET,\nInc. A full list of winners is available below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noise compatibility is a high priority for Los Angeles World\nAirports (LAWA). LAWA has established an extensive noise management program at\nVan Nuys Airport (VNY). With changes in fleet mix, new aircraft operators and\nnew aircraft types operating in and out of VNY, the voluntary Friendly Flyer\nprogram is regularly updated to include new target noise levels and to expand\nthe number of aircraft included in the program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At an awards luncheon held at the Airtel Plaza Hotel recently, Van Nuys Airport (VNY) honored 36 general aviation companies with Friendly Flyer Awards.
