The Pennsylvania Drone Association recently hosted its\ninaugural Drone Advocacy Day at the State Capitol Complex. Supporters were\ngiven the opportunity to be a part of building the roadmap for the safe\nintegration of autonomous aircraft in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnmanned aircraft are the future in Pennsylvania,\u201d said\nFrank Segarra, CEO of Connexicore, a nationwide drone solutions provider based\nin Milford, Pike County. \u201cToday\u2019s advocacy event is the first step toward\nensuring the use of drones in Pennsylvania is safe for both recreational and\nbusiness purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S.\ndrone industry is projected to draw $82.1 billion in economic benefits and\ncreate 100,000 new jobs by 2025. Pennsylvania, lacking a coordinated and\neffective development program to support drone industry initiatives, risks\nfalling behind in a rapidly growing industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMore than one million drones are registered with the FAA,\nand the number will only continue to climb,\u201d said PA Drone Association Director\nDavid Heath. \u201cPennsylvania must seize on this momentum and move to the\nforefront in creating economic development opportunities for entrepreneurs in\nthe drone industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drone Advocacy Day gave industry leaders and state legislators\nthe chance to identify areas of growth and opportunities in Pennsylvania.\nAttendees visited with several drone exhibitors, who also gave live\ndemonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIndustry leaders in Pennsylvania are hoping to develop\npublic and private partnerships to identify funding opportunities to support\ncritical drone infrastructure,\u201d said Todd Kishpaugh, chief operating officer\nand partner of Argos Unmanned Aerial Solutions, a Lititz, Lancaster\nCounty-based drone provider. \u201cThis really is the new frontier in aviation.\nToday was a great opportunity to begin an important dialogue for an industry\nthat will have a tremendous, positive impact on the commonwealth\u2019s economy.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
