{"id":13107,"date":"2019-06-15T15:53:22","date_gmt":"2019-06-15T15:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=13107"},"modified":"2019-06-26T21:02:45","modified_gmt":"2019-06-26T21:02:45","slug":"dee-howard-foundation-sponsors-utsa-aerospace-engineering-certificate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/aviation-education\/dee-howard-foundation-sponsors-utsa-aerospace-engineering-certificate\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Dee Howard Foundation Sponsors UTSA Aerospace Engineering Certificate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University of Texas at San Antonio College of\nEngineering has announced the new Aerospace Engineering Certificate beginning\nin the fall of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Certificate in Aerospace Engineering is designed to\nprepare mechanical engineering degree-seeking students and non-degree-seeking\nstudents with a mechanical engineering background with the fundamental\nengineering knowledge necessary for successful careers in the aerospace\nindustry. It certifies to employers that students awarded the certificate have\ncompleted coursework essential to success in entry-level positions in\naerospace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Certificate is sponsored by the Dee Howard Foundation,\nwhose mission is to inspire, challenge, and empower innovators in aerospace\nwhile training a skilled workforce for the San Antonio, Texas Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Dee Howard Foundation (DHF) was honored to have had the opportunity to collaborate with UTSA in the launch of this certificate and its other aeronautical engineering offerings,\u201d said Wayne Fagan, Foundation Chair.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cThe Foundation also looks forward to working with UTSA in the future on the DHF Pre-K thru 12 Aeronautical STEM Initiative, focused on students from underserved areas of our community as well as building an aeronautical pathway for those students and others post grade 12.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dee Howard Foundation also established the Dee Howard\nFaculty Fellow Endowment in 2013, benefitting a select member of the Mechanical\nEngineering Department as they advance research and scholarship in aerospace\nengineering and support undergraduate and graduate students interested in the\nfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dee Howard Foundation was established in memory of\naviation pioneer and entrepreneur Dee Howard for the support of programs that\nenhance excellence and global leadership of the aviation and automotive sectors\nin the San Antonio, Texas Region.\n\nTo learn more about the DHF Pre-K thru 12\nAeronautical STEM Initiative ,which includes an aircraft build program in 9th\nthru 12th grade[see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ERxzsPIga34&amp;feature=youtu.be\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ERxzsPIga34&amp;feature=youtu.be<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Engineering has announced the new Aerospace Engineering Certificate beginning in the fall of 2019.
