Gogo Business Aviation and ForeFlight have partnered to\nbring new GPS location information and altitude to the ForeFlight Mobile\niOS-based application for business aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Using an onboard Gogo AVANCE system or an ATG 4000\/5000,\nForeFlight Mobile can now deliver flight location information throughout the\ncockpit and cabin using Wi-Fi \u2013 it\u2019s information typically provided via a\nseparate GPS system that requires additional onboard hardware and antennas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur goal with this initiative was to simplify the\noverall on-aircraft systems configuration, and reduce the number of onboard\nsystems that passengers and crew are required to interact with and use on a\nregular basis,\u201d said Lisa Peterson, senior vice president of marketing and\ndigital (IoT) for Gogo Business Aviation. \u201cIt not only makes operating the\naircraft more efficient, it saves a significant amount of time and money for\nthe owner or operator because the aircraft doesn\u2019t have to be taken out of\nservice for installation of new antennas or equipment which GPS systems\nrequire.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this new service, the ForeFlight iOS mobile\napplication on a passenger device can use flight location information \u2013\nspecifically longitude, latitude and altitude \u2013 sent to the onboard Gogo system\nfrom the aircraft\u2019s FMS that is then made available via the cabin Wi-Fi\nnetwork.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
