Res. 203, commemorating the Aircraft\nOwners and Pilots Association&#8217;s eightieth anniversary passed the full Senate on\nMay 13. The resolution was led by Sens. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Tammy\nDuckworth (D-Ill.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1939, AOPA has represented the interests of general\naviation pilots across the United States and has tirelessly advocated to,\nprotect their freedom to fly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the resolution\u2019s passage, Inhofe said, \u201cAOPA,\nrepresenting the largest aviation community in the world, has been a leader for\nthe entire general aviation community for decades. With the passage of this\nresolution today, I am proud to pay tribute to AOPA\u2019s 80 years of faithful\nservice to the aviation community. They have a strong legacy of being tireless\nadvocates for pilots and contributing to aviation safety. Furthermore, they\nhave played a vital role in educating members of congress on issues important\nto the general aviation community, including those addressed in my bipartisan\nlegislation, the Pilot\u2019s Bill of Rights and the Pilot\u2019s Bill of Rights 2. AOPA\nhas always been a strong voice on Capitol Hill for pilots and I wish them\nsuccess for the next 80 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duckworth also reiterated praise for AOPA: \u201cFor eight\ndecades, AOPA has been a leading advocate in the aviation community, educating\nthe public and members of congress about the many important issues facing our\nnation\u2019s general aviation pilots. I\u2019m excited to have worked alongside Senator\nInhofe to pass this resolution honoring their valuable contributions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bipartisan resolution acknowledged AOPA\u2019s legacy,\nincluding its role in growing the pilot population, advocating for aviation safety,\nand protecting and promoting aviation in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AOPA President Mark Baker said, \u201cAs the fifth president of\nAOPA, I am honored that the U.S. Senate is commemorating AOPA\u2019s eightieth\nanniversary. Our staff works hard everyday to protect general aviation and\nensure its lasting vitality.
