{"id":12769,"date":"2019-05-10T01:11:46","date_gmt":"2019-05-10T01:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=12769"},"modified":"2019-05-10T01:11:47","modified_gmt":"2019-05-10T01:11:47","slug":"bob-hoover-legacy-foundation-builds-on-previous-successes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/florida\/bob-hoover-legacy-foundation-builds-on-previous-successes\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation Builds on Previous Successes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation is now in its third year\nof carrying on the mission left it by the late Robert A. \u2018Bob\u2019 Hoover \u2013\narguably one of the most pivotal figures in the civilian and military aviation\ncommunity. No less an expert than Jimmy Doolittle said, \u201cBob is the greatest\nstick-and-rudder man that ever lived.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation was established by Bob\nprior to his passing in October of 2016. Its purpose is to perpetuate the\ndedication to excellence, integrity, leaning and mentorship that drove his\nlegendary aviation career by financially supporting educational institutions\nand the development of the next generation of American aviation leadership. The\nFoundation is a 501C3 tax deductible organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The efforts undertaken in 2018 continued an aggressive\nscholarship outreach program in which some $150,000 was awarded to deserving\nfull-time, undergraduate students enrolled at either the Prescott, AZ or\nDaytona Beach, FL campuses of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outreach efforts to major aviation organizations and\nextensive conversations were undertaken in order to better target and plan\nfuture programs and efforts designed to promote a positive future for the\naviation world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aviation events, like the 2018 AirVenture EAA Fly-In and\nthe corresponding Evening With Bob Hoover Dinner Event brought together many\nwho loved and appreciated Bob\u2019s lifetime of service, and also offered the\nFoundation the opportunity to award the first-ever Bob Hoover Award of Aviation\nExcellence to the exceptional volunteers and pilots who flew more than 2\nmillion EAA Young Eagles in 90 countries since the program\u2019s launch in 1992.\nThis effort was a particular favorite of Bob\u2019s\u201c\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there were many other notable efforts and successes\non the part of the Foundation during 2018, BHLF has no intention of resting on\nits laurels\u201c\u2026 but in planning and implementing an aggressive vision whereby\nBob\u2019s mission may be carried forward in a matter befitting his incredible\nlegacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current mission emphasis covers: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Providing academic scholarships.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide additional awareness and outreach\nthrough a campaign with the US Postal Service to honor Bob with a commemorative\nstamp in 2022, on what would have been his 100th birthday<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Forming partnerships to provide financial,\ntactical and branding support (The Legacy Foundation maintains the rights to\nBob\u2019s name, image, aviation artifacts and memorabilia) to existing\norganizations and programs working to improve aviation\u2019s future.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Maintaining Bob\u2019s presence at major aviation\nvenues where so many thousands of aviators and aspiring aviators first met him\npersonally.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inspire the next generation of aviators and\naviation professionals to seek greater levels of professionalism and excellence\nthrough the examples set by Bob throughout his military and civilian careers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Other programs are under careful consideration and the\nBoard has plans that will be announced in the not too distant future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation is now in its third year of carrying on the mission left it by the late Robert A. \u2018Bob\u2019 Hoover \u2013 arguably one of the most pivotal figures in the civilian and military aviation community.
