This year\u2019s show was\nheld April 16 \u2013 18, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe excitement and energy were even higher at ABACE this\nyear than previous years,\u201d said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. \u201cThe new\nproduct announcements, the first-time show features and the forward-looking\nview from government and market leaders all showed that the pace of business\naviation development here is accelerating, as is the growth and importance of\nChina and Asia in the global aviation ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bolen pointed to several examples to illustrate his point,\nincluding the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The show had its largest footprint ever, with several of\nthe event\u2019s 160 exhibitors expanding their exhibit space, including into one of\nthe 12 chalets outside on the airport ramp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 ABACE2019 was the occasion for major aircraft\nannouncements: Bombardier chose ABACE as the first international show to\ndisplay its Global 7500. Bell Helicopter brought its 505, which was previously\nat ABACE in mock-up form. The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China unveiled\nits new CBJ business jet. A number of sales and other agreements were announced\nthroughout the busy week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 This year\u2019s ABACE opening keynote session showcased the\nembrace by top government leaders of the industry\u2019s potential. Those\nparticipating included Jiang Chunshui, Party Secretary of the East China\nRegional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC);\nYun Qin, Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA) chair; Xin Feng, SAA President, and;\nCai Jun, Shanghai Traffic Commission inspector. The session also included\naddresses from Sean Stein, consul general of the United States in Shanghai, and\nWeldon Epp, consul general of Canada in Shanghai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 ABACE2019 was filled with \u201cfirsts,\u201d including an opening\nkeynote panel discussion, moderated by Asian Business Aviation Association\n(AsBAA) Chair Jenny Lau, focused on opportunities for business aviation in\nChina. The panel featured participants from Aviation Industry Corporation of\nChina, Textron Aviation, and Cirrus Aircraft \u2013 all companies with long-standing\nexperience in the Asian market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 As another first-time ABACE event, the show\u2019s second day\nkicked off with a session dedicated to the development of Urban Air Mobility in\nAsia. The panel included representation from China-based electric Vertical\nTakeoff and Landing manufacturers, such as EHang and AutoFlightX, as well as\nthose with an international footprint, including Honeywell and jetAviva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The show included a symposium, hosted by the CAAC, which\nexplored innovative ideas for further developing China\u2019s aviation\ninfrastructure to meet future needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 This year\u2019s ABACE Careers in Business Aviation Day, which\nintroduces high school students to business aviation careers, hosted a\nrecord-setting 230-plus students, from a wider geographic diversity of schools\nthan ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 More than a dozen ABACE education sessions explored global\ntrends, new markets, geopolitics and other timely issues of concern for the\nindustry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s ABACE crossed new milestones in reflecting the\ndynamic evolution and unique characteristics of business aviation in the\nregion,\u201d Bolen continued. \u201cIt was inspiring to see the business aviation\ncommunity in China, across Asia and from around the world come together, and to\nhear that we met or exceeded the expectations of show participants. We look\nforward to welcoming everyone back to ABACE for another successful event next\nyear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABACE is held each year in partnership with the SAA, and\nco-hosted by NBAA and AsBAA.
