{"id":12634,"date":"2019-04-20T02:37:56","date_gmt":"2019-04-20T02:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=12634"},"modified":"2019-04-20T02:37:59","modified_gmt":"2019-04-20T02:37:59","slug":"first-pipistrel-skycharge-electric-aircraft-charging-station-installed-in-u-s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/california\/first-pipistrel-skycharge-electric-aircraft-charging-station-installed-in-u-s\/%20","title":{"rendered":"First Pipistrel SkyCharge Electric Aircraft Charging Station Installed in U.S."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The first of five Pipistrel SkyCharge stations to be\ninstalled this month has just been completed at Compton Airport, Los Angeles\nCalifornia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This SkyCharge unit is capable of charging 2 electric\naircraft at the same time giving the aircraft a one hour flight duration\nfollowed by a one hour charge cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"306\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pipistrel-Skycharge-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pipistrel-Skycharge-2.jpg 680w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pipistrel-Skycharge-2-300x135.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px\" \/><figcaption><em>Pipistrel SkyCharge<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The aircraft are owned by Tomorrow\u2019s Aeronautical Museum and\nare used to introduce socially disadvantaged youth to the aviation industry\nwith the potential pathway to future employment in the airline industries and\nbeyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commissioning of this first unit was a fairly low-key\naffair, but when the rest of the Pipistrel SkyCharge units are installed throughout\nthe Los Angeles basin in coming weeks the company will celebrate the first\nElectric Aircraft SkyCharge network by flying electric aircraft between the new\nSkyCharge airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electric aircraft, whilst still in their infancy are\ndefinitely the way forward for the light aviation training and local scenic\nflights industry especially in noise sensitive areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recent noise testing of the Pipistrel ALPHA Electro aircraft\nhas validated that during a 500 feet fly over the aircraft cannot be heard\nabove ambient noise levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An interesting \u201cproblem\u201d which has recently been highlighted\nis the inability to produce a noise certificate for an aircraft that can\u2019t\neffectively be tested, this is causing some head scratching with CAA\u2019s around\nthe globe as they amend the regulations for what is, an aircraft that doesn\u2019t\nneed a noise certificate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first of five Pipistrel SkyCharge stations to be installed this month has just been completed at Compton Airport, Los Angeles California.
