{"id":12567,"date":"2019-04-16T03:29:46","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T03:29:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=12567"},"modified":"2019-04-16T03:29:47","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T03:29:47","slug":"business-aviation-lands-in-shanghai-for-the-2019-asian-business-aviation-conference-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/international-news\/business-aviation-lands-in-shanghai-for-the-2019-asian-business-aviation-conference-exhibition\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Business Aviation Lands in Shanghai for the 2019 Asian Business Aviation Conference &#038; Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">The latest products, services, equipment and announcements\nin business aviation for Asia will be in focus for the 2019 edition of the\nAsian Business Aviation Conference &amp; Exhibition (ABACE2019), coming to\nShanghai Hongqiao International Airport, from April 16-18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABACE is held each year in partnership with the Shanghai\nAirport Authority (SAA) and co-hosted by the National Business Aviation\nAssociation (NBAA) and the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBusiness aviation\u201d is a term given to describe the\nmanufacture, use and support of mostly small \u201cgeneral aviation\u201d airplanes for\nbusiness reasons. Given its geographical and other considerations, the Asian\nregion holds enormous potential for business aviation in the coming years.\nABACE2019 will feature more than 150 exhibitors and more than 30 aircraft on\ndisplay, including pistons, intercontinental jets and helicopters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 15, a special ABACE media day briefing for\nreporters was hosted by NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen and Lu Xun, Chairman,\nShanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Center, to provide an\noverview of this year\u2019s show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their presentation, at 11 a.m. on the show grounds, was\naugmented by remarks from Jeffrey Lowe, a member of the board of governors for\nthe Asian Business Aviation Association, who provided a 2018 fleet report for\nthe industry in the Asian region. All three speakers took reporters\u2019 questions\nat this exclusive media briefing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the briefing, a tour of the ABACE aircraft display\nwas provided, with lunch offered thereafter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the \u201c13th Five-Year Plan for Development of\nGeneral Aviation\u201d, China will establish 500 general aviation airports and own\n5,000 general aviation aircraft by 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the current industrial scale, the number of domestic\ngeneral aviation has increased from 111 operators by end of 2010 to 422\noperators by end of 2018, while general aviation aircrafts increased\nsignificantly from 1,010 in 2010 to 3,229 in 2018. Meanwhile, general aviation\nairports certified by CAAC has increased from 175 in 2010 to 229 by end of\n2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The international embrace of business aviation in Asia will\nbe highlighted by the government and industry leaders participating in the\nshow\u2019s April 16 opening keynote session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, the ABACE2019 opening keynote will feature:\nJiang Chunshui, Party Secretary of the East China Regional Administration of\nthe Civil Aviation Administration of China; Cai Jun, Inspector of Shanghai\nTraffic Commission; Yun Qin, chair, and Xin Feng, president of SAA; NBAA\u2019s\nBolen; Weldon Epp, consul general for Canada in Shanghai, and; Sean Stein,\nconsul general at the United States Consulate General in Shanghai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those speakers\u2019 remarks will be followed by a panel\ndiscussion of transportation experts including: Guangshan Lu, chief engineer,\nAviation Industry Corporation of China, Ltd; Kevin Wu, international vice\npresident, Greater China and Mongolia sales, Textron Aviation Inc., and; Todd\nSimmons, president, customer experience, Cirrus Aircraft. The panel will be\nmoderated by Jenny Lau, chair, Asian Business Aviation Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later on the show\u2019s first day, a panel \u2013 hosted by the Civil\nAviation Administration of China, or CAAC \u2013 will focus on the development of\nairports and other infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The show\u2019s second day will start with a session dedicated to\nthe development of Urban Air Mobility in Asia, will include: Cyrus Sigari,\nco-founder of jetAviva; Shane Tedjarati, president, global high-growth regions,\nHoneywell, and; Tian Yu, CEO of AutoFlightX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NBAA\u2019s Bolen commented, \u201cAs in past years, China will take\nits place on the stage at the center of the business aviation universe for\nABACE. There will be much that is new and exciting about the show, and, working\nwith the SAA, CAAC and AsBAA, we know ABACE will be a huge success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lu Xun, Chairman, Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation\nService Center, said, \u201cAt present, the focus of the domestic business aviation\nindustry has gradually shifted from the industrial breakthrough to the common\nprosperity of the entire industrial chain, which will bring new opportunities\nto the development of business aviation industry in Shanghai and Greater China.\nWe are dedicated to continuous effort in enhancing our quality of service in\nbusiness aviation, and in return to complement the business operation environment\nin Shanghai.
