Roy Blunt<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Blunt has been a true friend to aviation for\nMissouri airports, both large and small, for many years.&nbsp; His office has always been open to helping\naddress concerns, remove obstacles, and help secure funding to complete\ncountless improvement projects on Missouri airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent statewide economic study from the Missouri\nDepartment of Transportation estimated Missouri\u2019s 107 commercial and general\naviation airports supported 14,910 jobs and had over $11 billion in annual\neconomic impact.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Blunt most recently served in a key position as\nChair of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation Operations, Safety, and\nSecurity.&nbsp; In this role, he sought input\nand ideas from Missouri airports on key federal aviation issues before his\ncommittee, and even invited some MAMA members to testify on aviation issues in\nWashington DC.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Senator has been actively engaged at local and national\nlevels helping airports provide valuable services and serve the air\ntransportation needs of Missourians\u201d said Dennis Wiss, current MAMA President\nand director of the St. Charles County Smartt Airport.&nbsp; The Friend of Aviation Award was developed to\nrecognize individuals that have made a significant contribution to support\nMissouri aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his remarks, Senator Blunt said he was touched and\nhonored to accept this award, \u201cMissouri airports are vital to our state\u2019s\neconomy and I\u2019ve had the pleasure of working with many airports on important\nissues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MAMA is an organization comprised of administrators and\noperators of public use airports in Missouri.
