Many of our team members, including the pilots who flew\nthe charter flight, are veterans and know firsthand the dedication and\nsacrifice required of those who serve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The celebrations began Friday evening when the Medal of\nHonor recipients and their guests attended the Congressional Medal of Honor\nFoundation\u2019s annual Circle of Honor Gala, this year at the Cipriani Club in New\nYork City. The event celebrated their courage, selfless service and patriotism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The honorable guests received a hero\u2019s sendoff Saturday at\nJohn F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) before boarding an Airbus 321T\nbound for the nation\u2019s capital. Upon arrival at Ronald Reagan Washington\nNational Airport (DCA), the veterans\u2019 plane was greeted with a water cannon\nsalute and hundreds of team members and supporters were at the gate to welcome\nthe heroes to Washington. Recipients and their families were then escorted to a\nspecial dinner hosted by American in their honor at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon\nCity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re extremely grateful for the overwhelming generosity of\nAmerican Airlines in their support of the Medal of Honor recipients and the\nCongressional Medal of Honor Society and Foundation,\u201d said Karl Horst,\nPresident and CEO of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation. \u201cAmerican\nhelps the recipients and the foundation all year long to ensure we can travel\nthe nation to educate and inspire American citizens about the values and the\nlegacy of the Medal of Honor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2009, American has been involved with the foundation\nby supporting Medal of Honor recipients and the organization\u2019s activities. In\n2011, the company became the first airline to offer all current and future\nMedal of Honor recipients top-tier ConciergeKey\u00ae status in its AAdvantage\u00ae\nloyalty program. Given to only its most elite customers, this status ensures\nthese heroic individuals will have access to all elite amenities during their\ntravel experience. In October, American will once again serve as the official\nairline of the Congressional Medal of Honor Convention, which will take place\nin Tampa, Florida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>American has long-standing ties to the nation&#8217;s armed\nforces. With more than 7,000 team member who are veterans or still serving in\nthe reserve component, the airline places a strong emphasis on these\ninitiatives through collaborations with organizations including the Gary Sinise\nFoundation, the George W.
