The Kodiak is\na single engine, nine-passenger utilitarian turboprop aircraft that was\ninitially developed 14 years ago to serve humanitarian missions throughout the\nworld. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe State of Idaho Division of Aeronautics has a similar\nmission in a similar environment,\u201d says Mike Pape, Director of the Division. \u201cWe\nwill use the Kodiak to help manage the 31 backcountry airstrips we maintain.\u201d&nbsp; Pape says they\u2019ll now access all of the 128\npublic airstrips in the state that require 5010 inspections, many of which are\nin very rural, mountainous locations.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Kodiak\u2019s remarkable slow flight and endurance\ncapabilities will greatly compliment our search and rescue mission,\u201d said Pape.&nbsp; \u201cWe can now perform wildlife surveys, forest\nmonitoring, and natural disaster recon.\u201d&nbsp;\nThe Kodiak will also be used to fly state executives on shorter\npassenger flights saving costs compared to the King Air. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Kodiak\u2019s versatility is pretty amazing,\u201d said Pape.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State of Idaho recently purchased a new Quest Kodiak 100 as an addition to the current fleet of a King Air and Cessna 206.
