Yvonne Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of\nIntergovernmental and Northern Affairs and Internal Trade and Member of\nParliament for Labrador, on behalf of the Honorable Marc Garneau, Minister of\nTransport, has announced a $98,215 investment for the purchase of a pre-wetting\nmaterial spreader for the Churchill Falls Airport. This equipment spreads\nliquid de-icing chemicals onto the rock salt which speeds up the melting of ice\non airside surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The funding comes from Transport Canada’s Airports Capital\nAssistance Program (ACAP). Since the Program’s launch in 1995, the Government\nof Canada has invested more than $834 million for 935 projects at 185 airports\nacross the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Churchill Falls Airport is an important hub for\nresidents and businesses in this region,\u201d said Yvonne Jones, Parliamentary\nSecretary to the Minister of Intergovernmental and Northern Affairs and\nInternal Trade and a Member of Parliament for Labrador. \u201cThis investment will\nhelp the airport ensure continued safe operation for passengers, flight crews,\nand employees, who rely on the airport as it supports the regional economy and\nits social development.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
