{"id":12297,"date":"2019-03-16T01:53:32","date_gmt":"2019-03-16T01:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=12297"},"modified":"2019-03-16T01:54:11","modified_gmt":"2019-03-16T01:54:11","slug":"women-aviators-gather-for-eaa-womenventure-at-eaa-airventure-oshkosh-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/wisconsin\/women-aviators-gather-for-eaa-womenventure-at-eaa-airventure-oshkosh-2019\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Women Aviators Gather for EAA WomenVenture at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Photo above by Madison Connor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">For the 12th straight year, the opportunity for women who\nlove aviation to build camaraderie and open doors to mentorship and\nparticipation comes to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, as EAA WomenVenture\nactivities will take place during the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 67th annual Experimental Aircraft Association fly-in\nconvention will be held July 22-28 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh,\nWisconsin. EAA WomenVenture is presented by The Boeing Company, with additional\nsupport from Endeavor Air, Ford Motor Company, GE Aviation, General Aviation\nManufacturers Association (GAMA), Glasair Aviation, L3 Commercial Aviation,\nNinety-Nines Inc., The Outlet Shoppes at Oshkosh, United Airlines, and Women in\nAviation International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2008, EAA WomenVenture has offered the opportunity to\nbring together female aviators from throughout the flying community. The\nactivities are designed to encourage participation by women in aviation, as\nonly 6 percent of all pilots in the U.S. are female.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEAA WomenVenture is a tremendous experience for women,\nparticularly as it comes during the World\u2019s Greatest Aviation Celebration at\nOshkosh,\u201d said Tara Parkhurst, a pilot and EAA museum educator, who is leading\nthe organization of this year\u2019s activities. \u201cThese activities can be a\nspringboard to motivate other women to get involved in aviation, either for fun\nor as a future career, as we\u2019ll present activities that motivate, inform, and\ninspire.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The schedule includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Monday, July\n22, 5:30 p.m. \u2013 The EAA WomenVenture social, presented by Endeavor Air. This\nkickoff to the 12th annual WomenVenture schedule invites all women to meet and\nconnect in a fun atmosphere of an ice cream social. Preregistration online at\nEAA.org\/WomenVenture is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wednesday,\nJuly 24, 11 a.m. \u2013 Annual EAA WomenVenture group photo on AirVenture\u2019s showcase\nBoeing Plaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wednesday,\nJuly 24, 11:30 a.m. \u2013 The EAA WomenVenture Power Lunch at Theater in the Woods.\nTickets are $5 each and preregistration for this lunch is required at\nEAA.org\/WomenVenture. This year\u2019s speaker is U.S. Air Force Col. Kim Campbell,\na decorated A-10 combat pilot who earned a Distinguished Flying Cross after\nflying an A-10 damaged by anti-aircraft fire during aerial combat over Iraq.\nShe became one of the few pilots ever to fly the A-10 in manual mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c2\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wednesday,\nJuly 24, 7 p.m. \u2013 EAA WomenVenture evening program at Theater in the Woods.\nParticipants to be announced as they are confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As in past years, a limited-edition EAA WomenVenture T-shirt\nis available to all women who participate (while supplies last). Those T-shirts\nmust be reserved in advance via the EAA WomenVenture website and may be picked\nup at the AirVenture Welcome Center beginning Monday, July 22. The printed\nT-shirt registration or confirmation of T-shirt registration on a mobile device\nmust be shown when picking up the T-shirt. Women are encouraged to wear the\nT-shirt for the July 24 group photos to show the collective strength of women\nin the aviation community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, women are invited to the Welcome Center to sign\nthe EAA WomenVenture logbook any day during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo above by Madison Connor.
