Department\nof Transportation\u2019s Division of Aviation has announced the winners of this\nyear\u2019s Aviation Art Contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s theme was \u201cMy Dream to Fly\u201d and after weeks of\njudging and voting, the winners in three age groups have been announced and can\nbe seen below.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior (born 2009-2012):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st: Srinika Lingidi, of Mills Park Elementary in Cary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2nd: Abigail Santiago, of Berean Baptist Academy in\nFayetteville<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3rd: Jessica H. Wu, of Davis Drive Elementary in Cary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intermediate (born 2005-2008):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st: Kailyn Becker, of Lufkin Road Middle in Apex<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2nd: Eve Bennett, of Kiser Middle in Greensboro<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3rd: Madeline Grimmius, of Pine Lake Preparatory in\nMooresville<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior (born 2001-2004):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1st: Hyunmin Ra, of Berean Baptist Academy in Fayetteville<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2nd: Haley Carter, of Massey Hill Classical High in\nFayetteville<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3rd: Jesus Mena, of Central Middle in Dobson<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winning art can be viewed on the Division of Aviation\u2019s\nFacebook page. Art from all finalists will be posted on the NCDOT Flickr site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winners were selected over two weeks of voting by local\nart teachers, aviation experts and Division of Aviation Employees. The artwork\nwas judged on creativity, adherence to the theme and technical quality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to cash prizes for the winners and their\nschools, the top three students in each age division will have their artwork\nsubmitted to the National Aviation Art Contest. Last year, a North Carolina\nstudent placed 2ndin the national contest and advanced to the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration\nA\u00e9ronautique Internationale\u2019s International Aviation Art Contest in\nSwitzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2,793 entries for this year\u2019s competition represents\nmore than twice the highest number of entries previously submitted. This year\u2019s\nentries came from 243 schools in 67 counties.
