{"id":11989,"date":"2019-02-18T00:02:22","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T00:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=11989"},"modified":"2019-02-18T00:02:24","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T00:02:24","slug":"faa-establishes-restrictions-on-drone-operations-over-doj-and-dod-facilities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/unmanned-systems\/faa-establishes-restrictions-on-drone-operations-over-doj-and-dod-facilities\/%20","title":{"rendered":"FAA Establishes Restrictions on Drone Operations over DOJ and DOD Facilities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At the request of its federal security partners, the Federal\nAviation Administration (FAA) is using its existing authority under Title 14 of\nthe Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) \u00c2\u00a7 99.7 \u2013 \u201cSpecial Security\nInstructions\u201d \u2013 to address concerns about drone operations over national\nsecurity sensitive facilities by establishing temporary unmanned aircraft\nsystem (UAS) specific flight restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information on the FAA Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), which\ndefines these restrictions, and all of the currently covered locations, can be\nfound at the UAS Data Display System, which provides an interactive map,\ndownloadable geospatial data, and other important details. Note that\nthere are only a few exceptions that permit drone flights within these\nrestrictions, and they must be coordinated with the individual facility and\/or the\nFAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Operators who violate the flight restrictions may be subject\nto enforcement action, including potential civil penalties and criminal\ncharges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA is continuing to consider additional requests by eligible federal security agencies for UAS-specific flight restrictions using the agency\u2019s \u00c2\u00a7 99.7 authority as they are received.
