Photo \u00a9 Robbie Aleman for Airbus Helicopters Inc.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Airbus Helicopters Inc. and Helisim broke ground Tuesday on\na new, state-of-the-art helicopter pilot and maintenance crew training center\nin Grand Prairie, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With an initial investment of $40 million, the Helisim\nSimulation Center will provide introductory and recurrent training to thousands\nof pilot personnel each year. The first stage of the new facility is scheduled\nfor completion later this year when the first new Thales Reality H Level D\nfull-motion flight simulator will be delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Helisim, a joint venture of Thales and Airbus Helicopters\nand a global leader in helicopter training, will develop and operate the\nsimulation center. The center will house the first Level D full-motion flight\nsimulators in North America for Airbus H145 and H175 helicopters, two high-tech\ncivil helicopters, which are now entering wide use in the Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAirbus Helicopters builds some of the most innovative\nhelicopters on the market today. The North American training center will meet\nour customers\u2019 needs for exceptional training on those aircraft,\u201d said Anthony\nBaker, Vice President of Customer Support for Airbus Helicopters Inc. \u201cThis\ntraining center will advance safety for the thousands of men and women who\noperate and fly in our helicopters every day.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new center represents a major international expansion of\nFrance-based Helisim, which brings 18 years of experience in simulation\ntraining for Airbus Helicopters aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHelisim is committed to improving flight safety across our\nindustry through simulator-based training,\u201d said Christian Cochini, CEO of\nHelisim. \u201cBy working closely with Airbus Helicopters Inc. and Thales, we will\nnow be able to provide unparalleled training solutions to North American\ncustomers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventually, the North American training center will expand\nto include an H160 simulator, once that helicopter model is certified and\nproduction is underway.
