{"id":11742,"date":"2019-01-29T18:32:35","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T18:32:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=11742"},"modified":"2019-01-29T18:32:37","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T18:32:37","slug":"atlanta-no-drone-zone-during-super-bowl-liii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/state-news\/georgia\/atlanta-no-drone-zone-during-super-bowl-liii\/%20","title":{"rendered":"Atlanta, &#8220;No Drone Zone&#8221; During Super Bowl LIII"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The airspace around Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta is a\n\u201cNo Drone Zone\u201d for Super Bowl LIII, on Feb. 3, 2019, and during three days\nleading up to the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will establish a\nTemporary Flight Restriction (TFR) on game day that will prohibit drones within\na 30-nautical-mile radius of the stadium up to 17,999 feet in altitude. The TFR\nwill be in place from 5:30 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Some general\naviation operations may be allowed within the TFR provided they meet specific\nsecurity and operational requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FAA also will restrict drone flights for one nautical\nmile around the stadium up to an altitude of 1,000 feet on January 31, February\n1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, and on February 3 from 10 a.m.\nto 5:30 p.m., at which time the TFR for the game takes effect.&nbsp; Further details are available in the drone\nTFRs. Please see NOTAM numbers 9\/5085 and 9\/5087-5089.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pilots and drone operators who enter the TFRs without\npermission could face civil penalties that exceed $20,000 and potential\ncriminal prosecution for flying drones in the TFR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed information for general aviation and drone pilots\nis available at FAA&#8217;s Super Bowl LIII webpage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drone pilots should check the FAA\u2019s B4UFly app to determine\nwhen and where they may fly.
