The grants leverage more than $11 million in local matching funds. Authorized by the General Assembly, the grants are administered by PennDOT&#8217;s Bureau of Aviation.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The grants were approved today by the State Transportation Commission. The 15-member commission includes the Transportation Secretary, 10 private citizens appointed by the governor, and the majority and minority chairs of the state Senate and House Transportation Committees.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The state has 133 public-use airports and heliports and 15 of those airports have scheduled commercial service. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">The following is a by-county list of airport improvement grant recipients, the amount of funding, and a brief description of the projects:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Allegheny County: Allegheny County Airport &#8212; $512,500 to design and construct hangars. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Bradford County: Bradford County Airport &#8212; $200,000 to construct hangars.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Cambria County: John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport &#8212; $250,000 to construct hangars. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Jefferson County: DuBois Regional Airport &#8212; $1.5 million to continue construction on the Air Commerce Park.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Luzerne County: Wilkes-Barre\/Wyoming Valley Airport &#8212; $450,000 to design and construct 30 hangars.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">McKean County: Bradford Regional Airport &#8212; $1.1 million to construct and expand multi-tenant facilities.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Philadelphia County: Philadelphia International Airport &#8212; $5.1 million to improve the existing mechanical room and renovate an airfield to remove an existing stockpile.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;\">Schuylkill County: Schuylkill County\/Joe Zerbey Airport &#8212;
