McElroy will retire from the organization, effective December 31, 2018.\u00c2\u00a0 Following her retirement, McElroy will continue to serve ACI-NA in an advisory capacity for special projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone at ACI-NA \u2013 including me \u2013 has greatly benefited from Debby\u2019s guidance on all facets of aviation during her years of service to the North American airport industry,\u201d said ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cShe has been a trusted advisor to our members and a passionate advocate for shaping sound aviation policy throughout her career.\u00c2\u00a0 Her leadership will be missed, but we wish her well in her retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McElroy joined ACI-NA in 2006, as Senior Vice President of Government Affairs after serving seven years as President of the Regional Airline Association (RAA).\u00c2\u00a0 Named ACI-NA Executive Vice President in 2007, McElroy oversaw the safety and security, environmental and technical operations departments, coordinating policy and regulatory issues to effectively advance the airport industry agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDebby\u2019s deep understanding of aviation and her ability to bring stakeholders together have made us a stronger industry,\u201d said Cincinnati \/ Northern Kentucky International Airport CEO and ACI-NA Board of Directors Chair Candace McGraw.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cHer significant contributions to our industry have well-positioned us for continued success as we prepare for the next generation of air travel, especially as Matt steps into this well-deserved role.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining RAA in 1987, McElroy was employed by the U.S. International Trade Commission as their senior aerospace industry analyst and the U.S. Department of Labor as an international economist. A graduate of the University of Maryland, with a degree in economics, McElroy has more than 30 years of experience in aviation, regulatory, and trade issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDebby\u2019s commitment to advancing airport industry priorities is unparalleled,\u201d said Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority Executive Director and ACI-NA Board of Directors Vice Chair Lew Bleiweis.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cShe has diligently worked on behalf of U.S. and Canadian airports, helping them to serve their customers and communities.\u00c2\u00a0 We thank her for her contributions to our industry, and we look forward to working with Matt to further advance the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ACI-NA has named Matthew J. Cornelius, current Vice President of Air Policy, as its new Executive Vice President, effective January 1, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Cornelius joined ACI-NA in November 2012, and is currently Vice President of Air Policy.\u00c2\u00a0 He monitors and advises on U.S., Canadian, and international aviation regulations and issues including air service development, international bilateral air service issues, airport\/airline business relations, passenger facilitation and leads the organization\u2019s airport-related innovation program. He also serves as the committee secretary to the U.S. International Air Service Program, the Facilitation Committee, the Large Hub Airport Committee and as secretary to the Air Service Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted Matt will be stepping into this important role at ACI-NA,\u201d Burke said.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cTime and time again, Matt has proven himself to be an invaluable resource for ACI-NA and our members.\u00c2\u00a0 As one of the brightest and fastest rising stars in our industry, Matt\u2019s vast industry experience and ability to bring stakeholders together will serve our organization well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining ACI-NA, Cornelius served as Airline Affairs Manager with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. He also held roles in Frontier Airlines\u2019 finance and commercial strategy departments, and worked in airport operations at Denver International Airport.\u00c2\u00a0 He began his career with the aviation department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he held various positions in customer service and airport operations.<\/p>\n<p>Cornelius is a graduate of Villanova University, with a degree in business administration, and also holds an MBA from the University of Colorado at Boulder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Airports Council International \u2013 North America (ACI-NA) announced that longtime Executive Vice President Deborah C.
