{"id":11035,"date":"2018-10-03T17:45:45","date_gmt":"2018-10-03T17:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=11035"},"modified":"2018-10-03T17:45:45","modified_gmt":"2018-10-03T17:45:45","slug":"nasao-commends-passage-of-faa-reauthorization-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/nasao-commends-passage-of-faa-reauthorization-bill\/%20","title":{"rendered":"NASAO Commends Passage of FAA Reauthorization Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_7600\" class=\"thumbnail wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 210px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7600\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/John-Sheaedit-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"John Shea\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/John-Sheaedit-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/John-Sheaedit.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"caption wp-caption-text\">John Shea<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) welcomes House and Senate passage of a compromise five-year FAA reauthorization bill \u2014 the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 (H.R.302).\u00c2\u00a0 The Senate today followed the House\u2019s action last week and passed this bill by a vote of 93-6, sending the bill to President Trump to be signed into law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNASAO commends Congress for passing a long-term FAA Reauthorization bill that recognizes the import role of our nation\u2019s general aviation and small airports; makes much-needed and long overdue reforms; and provides funding certainty to critical programs,\u201d said NASAO Interim President and CEO John Shea.<\/p>\n<p>Shea noted that today is a landmark day for general aviation and thanked not only the chairmen and ranking members of the transportation committees in both chambers for their leadership in working together on consensus, bipartisan legislation, but also the membership of the committees for dedicating their time over the past two years to making FAA reauthorization a reality without privatizing the nation\u2019s air traffic control system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe applaud the new supplemental funding authorization of roughly $1 billion per year targeted towards small and rural airports; these funds have the potential to bring much needed improvements to our nation\u2019s small airports and to infuse an economic revival in many rural areas.
