Andrews was inducted into the 2018 National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame in the Government and Law category.<\/p>\n<p>In accepting the award, Andrews credited the influence of her family on her character, in particular her mother Capt. Electa Andrews, a retired law enforcement officer.\u00c2\u00a0 Andrews said, \u201cI am humbled to receive this honor because the \u2018Hall of Fame\u2019 isn\u2019t about the inductee. It is realy to honor those people who have paved the path to our success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andrews is a graduate of Savannah State University in Georgia with an undergraduate degree in criminal justice. She also holds various advanced degrees from other institutions. Prior to coming to the FAA in 2015, Andrews served in the US Navy for 32 years. During her distinguished career, she received numerous decorations and awards, retiring at the rank of rear admiral.\u00c2\u00a0 She holds the distinction of being the third African-American female to achieve that rank in the 243-year history of the US Navy.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Black College Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. website, \u201cThe Foundation is dedicated to sustaining and growing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU\u2019s) through alumni recognition, scholarships, training and technical assistance and programs to promote humanitarian involvement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The hall of fame began in 1986. Other inductees to the hall of fame in the Government and Law Category included some of the nation\u2019s top legal, political and public-service figures.<\/p>\n<p>Under Andrews\u2019 leadership, the FAA Office Human Resource Management supports a dynamic, world-class organization committed to providing the world\u2019s safest and most efficient aerospace system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, Sept. 28, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Assistant Administrator for Human Resource Management Annie B.
