{"id":10906,"date":"2018-08-27T19:26:54","date_gmt":"2018-08-27T19:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/?p=10906"},"modified":"2018-08-27T19:26:54","modified_gmt":"2018-08-27T19:26:54","slug":"united-rotorcraft-receives-contract-for-ventura-county-firehawks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateaviationjournal.com\/index.php\/national-news\/united-rotorcraft-receives-contract-for-ventura-county-firehawks\/%20","title":{"rendered":"United Rotorcraft receives contract for Ventura County FIREHAWKS\u00ae"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United Rotorcraft announced the receipt of a contract with Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) to convert two surplus U.S. Army aircraft into FIREHAWK\u00ae helicopters.<\/p>\n<p>VCFD purchased two U.S. Army HH-60L aircraft, originally configured as dedicated MEDEVAC helicopters.\u00c2\u00a0 These aircraft were outfitted with the United Rotorcraft medical equipment and patient litter systems, some of which will be repurposed in the new FIREHAWK\u00ae configurations.\u00c2\u00a0 Following a full maintenance inspection, the aircraft will be painted at the United Rotorcraft Decatur, Texas facility and modified at in Englewood, Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVentura County Fire Department, along with our partners from Ventura County Sheriff\u2019s Air Unit, has worked hard over the past years to identify the right solution for expanding and modernizing our aerial fleet,\u201d says Battalion Chief Gary Monday of Ventura County Fire Department.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cWe are looking forward to seeing the new FIREHAWK\u00ae aircraft serving the fire crews and people of Ventura County and the State of California.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reconfigured aircraft will include an aerial firefighting mission package with extended landing gear, a 1,000 gallon firefighting tank, and a retractable snorkel system.\u00c2\u00a0 A multi-mission interior including reconfigurable crew stations will be installed to allow the aircraft to perform a variety of missions including firefighting, fire crew transport, search and rescue and medical evacuation.\u00c2\u00a0 In addition to mission equipment, upgraded avionics and a new instrument panel will be installed in the cockpit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so proud to be part of the future Ventura firefighting mission, as well as repurposing these Army surplus aircraft for their new homes,\u201d says Bob Brodin, Director of Government Programs at United Rotorcraft.\u00c2\u00a0 \u201cThe FIREHAWK\u00ae aircraft have so many capabilities to help the people of Ventura County and we look forward to the delivery of these aircraft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the FIREHAWK\u00ae aircraft and\/or United Rotorcraft, please contact UnitedRotorcraft@airmethods.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United Rotorcraft announced the receipt of a contract with Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) to convert two surplus U.S. Army aircraft into FIREHAWK\u00ae helicopters.
