Duncan Aviation’s satellite avionics shops and workaway stations are collaborating with LoPresti Aviation to offer customers quick, flat-rate installation of the BoomBeam High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting system on a variety of business aircraft.
“We are in the process of developing flat-rate pricing for the BoomBeam lighting system and will be offering these flat rates at our satellite avionics locations,” says Matt Nelson, Satellite Operations Manager for Duncan Aviation. “Customers interested in upgrading their lighting system can combine that work at our satellite locations with other upgrades, including ADS-B compliance, connectivity or even cabin management system upgrades.”
LoPresti Aviation manufactures lighting systems for multiple aircraft makes and models, with Supplemental Type Certification (STC) and Part Manufacturing Approval (PMA) covering more than 550 aircraft models. The BoomBeam lighting system replaces older technology while providng lights that produce three to 15 times more light, engineered specifically for each model aircraft.
Benefits of the BoomBeam lighting system include increased safety, reduced electrical load and heat output, decreased AOG time for lighting issues as there are no filaments to break, and a color that more closely approximates natural daylight. The flat-rate pricing varies with the type of aircraft in which the lighting system will be installed.

Duncan Aviation’s facilities in Lincoln and Battle Creek have been installing our products for many years. The ability for customers to have our product installed at their home base will allow more customers to install our safety improvement,” says David LoPresti, Vice President of LoPresti Aviation.
“Our lighting offers the world’s longest-range and power, significantly adding to aircraft safety,” LoPresti continues. “Our lighting increases the range that your pilots can see out to 3,500 to 4,000 feet. The standard lighting only gives you 300 to 400 feet.”
Duncan Aviation expects that installation facilities will see upcoming avionics labor and hangar capacity shortages as the industry works through the mandated ADS-B upgrades and modifications. Duncan Aviation has access to or holds 42 FAA-approved solutions for ADS-B, which allows the company to perform upgrades on more than 100 aircraft models. In addition, Duncan Aviation is the only Rockwell Collins-authorized facility that can perform repairs and upgrades to the TDR-94 and TDR-94D transponders required to comply with the ADS-B mandate. Duncan Aviation also has NXT-700 transponders in stock and holds or has access to FANS solutions for 24 aircraft models.
