The Colorado Division of Aeronautics has been distinguished with the Airport Consultants Council (ACC) Agency Best Practices Award for innovative programs, positive culture, and commitment to supporting Colorado’s airports in ways that benefit the entire aviation industry.

Division Director David Ulane accepted the award at an August 15th luncheon held in conjunction with the ACC Airports Technical Workshop held in Washington D.C. “This recognition reflects highly on our Division and the Colorado Aeronautical Board, and I couldn’t be more proud of this passionate team of dedicated professionals,” said Ulane. “It’s truly a privilege to work with this team.”

The ACC Agency Best Practices Award recognizes valuable industry partners within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and other suitable agencies for the work they do each day as they interact with the airport consultant community. Judging criteria applicable to receive the award include proven examples of initiating innovative projects, exemplifying teamwork within a cooperative and collaborative environment, striving to promote streamlining in an effort to benefit all involved stakeholders.

Since 2005, the award has been presented to 22 federal officials and agencies. The 2019 ACC Agency Best Practices Award marks the first time that a state aviation agency has received this distinction. The Colorado Division of Aeronautics was nominated for the award based on Colorado’s effort to implement effective statewide aviation programs including the Colorado Remote Tower Project, DEN Surplus Airport Equipment Program, Mountain Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS) Program, Internship Program, and the Airport Sustainability Program.
