Brewers to Open Second Location at Yuma Airport

brewers original logo247x111An exciting new opportunity has opened for Brewers Restaurant & Sports Bar owners, Jeff and Courtney Gapp as they announce their opening of a second Brewers location at Yuma International Airport in June 2017.

the Gapps own and operate Brewers Restaurant & Sports Bar on Avenue B and 24th Street, and have been considering opening another location to better serve the Yuma community when they learned the airport was in the market for a new restaurant to provide hot meals and beverages for its passengers as well as the public.

Yuma International Airport Director Gladys Wiggins shared “The airport team is extremely excited about this announcement. The airport conducted interviews of interested establishments for the Airport Restaurant Concession and had three extremely talented local candidates. Specific goals for the selection committee were to choose the right restaurant operator who can not only attract passengers and their friends/family to eat before or after their flights, but also to select a restaurant operator that is well-known throughout the community for their great food, sports events and nightlife. It was very difficult to select the next restaurant but there was a consensus that Brewers was a great fit.” Ms. Wiggins made her recommendation to the Airport’s Board of Directors at a Special Board Meeting on May 3rd where the board unanimously voted in favor.  “The Brewers family is happy to extend our neighborhood establishment to the Yuma International Airport in support of our community,” said Courtney Gapp. “We look forward to serving our current and new clientele there.”

“Brewers is excited to have a breakfast, lunch, dinner and full bar featuring many craft beers downstairs at the airport,” said Jeff Gapp. “We’ll offer the upstairs mezzanine and former upstairs bar areas for an additional area to relax and eat/have a drink overlooking the runways.”

The airport team has spent many hours with the restaurant owners, discussing their vision at the airport including their interest in bringing back the airport’s former upstairs bar as well as creating additional eating and sitting area onto the mezzanine.  The Military Comfort Center will be relocated downstairs in the Ocotillo Room located directly across from the TSA screening area which will be more convenient for passengers and their families.

“There is no doubt Brewers will have great success serving great food and entertainment for our community and the airport’s passengers who fly in the early morning as well as into the late evening. It surely is a win-win for all!” Wiggins said.

Brewers will be open early for breakfast, and will offer many favorite items from their existing menu for lunch and dinner. They are enthusiastic about continuing to host a variety of sporting events both in the downstairs and upstairs locations. Patrons have the option of dining in and having their parking validated, or can place their order online for curb-side pickup.

Airport staff will post the project’s phasing and progress on the airport’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/flyyuma.
