AOPA Names Justin Barkowski Director of Regulatory Affairs

Justin Barkowsky.jpg AOPA has announced that Justin Barkowski has joined AOPA as Director of Regulatory Affairs in their D.C. office. In this role, Barkowski will be responsible for the development and management of aviation regulatory and certification policy on issues including, airman certification, flight training, operational regulations and safety concerns.

Prior to joining AOPA, Barkowski was the Founder & President of Airgyle located in Westlake Village, CA. In this role he created and developed the online aviation research system. He also devised and produced products analyzing current and historical aviation laws and regulations. One of his many accomplishments as President of Airgyle included authoring and publishing a book analyzing and summarizing over 110 federal aviation bills and resolutions. Concurrent to his role at Airgyle, Barkowski also held the position as Associate Attorney at Michaelis, Montanari & Johnson, where he was involved in aviation insurance defense litigation. Prior to this role, he held the position of Associate Attorney at Friedman & Bartoumian.

Justin earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law. He also holds a commercial pilot certificate. Justin has relocated from California.
